New Classes/Activities

Let us know what new classes/activities you would like to see happening at the centre. Also, let us know what days and times would suit you. E.g. morning classes or night classes – weekdays or weekends.

Monday

Al-Anon/Alateen Services 7.30pm onwards Meets every Monday evening in Lounge (Al-Anon) & Waiting Room (Alateen)

Pt Chevalier Al-Anon/Alateen Family Groups provides help for family members and friends affected by somone else’s problem drinking. Contact Gillian 627-9397, Robyn 528-0255 or Gloria 818-9192.

Pt Chevalier Community Committee 7.30pm Meets every 3rd Monday in Annex

A locally elected independent committee established under the auspices of Auckland City Council. All welcome. Contact: Val Jones 846-6612

Tuesday

Spiritual Healing 10am to 12pm Meets once a week in Waiting Room Main Building

Al-Anon 10.30am onwards Meets every Tuesday in Lounge

Pt Chevalier Al-Anon Friendship Group provides help for family members and friends affected by someone else’s problem drinking. Contact: Margaret 818-1377, Ralph 638-6240 or Sue 630-1069.

The Friendly Circle 11am to 1.30pm Meets every 4th Tuesday of the Month in Annex

Come make new friends and join a group who meet and chat over lunch. Contact Joan Callan 846-5840 if more information.

Open Heart Meditation 8pm to 10pm Meets every Tuesday in Lounge

Opening the heart is the key to better health, happiness, inner peace and spiritual growth. Heart meditations are a gentle introduction to our spiritual heart. This is a simple, easy meditation requiring no effort or special skill.

Open to beginners as well as experienced meditators. Everyone is welcome. No particular religion is promoted and all religions and beliefs are welcome. Wednesday

Embroidery/Needlework Social Group 10am to 12noon Meets once a week during term time in Lounge

Thursday

Craft/X-Stitch Group 10am to 12noon Meets once a week in Lounge

Come and be creative, chat, swap ideas and make new friends. All welcome. Contact Maureen: 376-4292

B4 School Check – ADHB 9am to 2pm Clinic runs every 2nd & 4th Thursday of the month

B4 School Check is a free check for four year olds to help to make sure your child is healthy and can learn well at school. It is a chance to discuss your child’s health and development with a nurse. For more information/to make an appointment phone 0800 33 83 33 or 623-4696

Saturday

SANDS (Stillbirth & Newborn Death Support – Auckland Central) Meets every first Saturday of the month.

This support group for parents who experience the death of their baby, meet every first Saturday of the month in the Annex from 10am to 12.30pm. ‘A little life, not a little loss’

Sunday

Middle Eastern Drumming – meets weekly in the Annex 2pm to 4pm.

Come try your hand at Middle Eastern Drumming.

Hand Drumming – An introductory workshop series. Meets fortnightly in the Annex 110.30am to 1.30pm. Facilitated by Nikki Wood. $20 per session.

Learn the technique of playing an African Djembe and take home some funky rhythms. Nikki has been drumming for 17 years. She has studied African drumming  with Epizo Bangoura, Mohammed Bangoura, Eddie Quansar, Folo Graff, Fraser Bruce and Jimmi Dale and she currently leads the group Damaru Drummers which started in 2005.
